Yes, I'm a little behind this summer on blogging. Well now that it is Fall maybe I can do a little catch up.

I didn't take pictures,(dang!) but James and I took the kids down to Springdale and we all went tubing down the Virgin River. We had promised the kids a river trip this summer. It didn't work out how we had planned. So this was our replacement for that. It really was a lot of fun. Very cool and relaxing.

After that we headed to Veyo with my extended family. Veyo has the greatest swimming pool and snack bar ever. When I was a kid we would go there with my moms family for our family reunions. Mom would always buy us food. The one thing I remember was the pronto pups... What is a Pronto Pup you ask? It is a homemade corndog. Very tasty. My kids didn't know what they were either but found out and loved them. We had a great time swimming and visiting. The place hadn't changed much since I was a kid. It was like going back in time. I probably hadn't been there in 25 years.

After Swimming and eating, the boys (meaning big boys, James, Brett, Yates, & JD) all headed out to Mesquite to have "all you can eat" Crab. What a trip it was. My brother Yates has grown this awful beard (if that's what you could call it). As you may know, eating Crab involves butter. Well Yates not only loves butter, but he gets it everywhere. When butter cools it gets hard and white. James said that he had so much butter (white chunks) in his beard, it was hilarious. Not even napkins would help, they had to ask for a towel from the kitchen. On the way home the butter started to get the best of him. James was driving. When they hit about Bloomington, Yates calls out from the back seat, "You better stop, my contractions are getting closer together". I thought I would die laughing!

Angel Day #8

I have so much catching up to do on my blog, but I just have to post a little blurb about my little Mia today. We have been without her for 8 years today. We went to the cemetery and cleaned her headstone and put out some cute fall decor. It was a good family home evening for us today. We love and still miss her everyday.

One cute thing that happened: My cousin Debbie called and was wishing me well today. She had gone out to the cemetery and put a flower on Mia's grave. As she was walking back to her car she said she wasn't really paying attention and all of a sudden she had a full on head on with a butterfly. She called to tell me that and that she knew Mia was with us all today. Thanks Deb! I love to hear stories of tender mercies like that. I super glad she took it as such and shared it with me.

It has been a beautiful day with some wonderful rain showers that we needed so badly.
Thanks to all those who have helped us and loved us through this journey.

That is what I have to say about today. It all started by getting up somewhere around 6:30-7:00ish to go for a morning hike. I decided a few weeks ago that I needed to hike the K-hill Indian Dance Hall. (the very top of the K-hill) So I invited my family to join me. They were all pretty stoked to go. We accomplished my goal about 7:45am. We were pretty much on top of the world. It was a beautiful morning. As we headed down the hill, we all noticed a beautiful yellow swallowtail butterfly following us. I made the observation that Mia decided to join us. Or at least we felt her close to us.

We came back home and I had to get ready to ride in the 24th of July parade. It wasn't super fun, but our float turned out pretty cute. The High Priests, Relief Society, and Elders made a cute covered wagon out of our trailer. (photos to come hopefully)

Then we met up with my brothers and sister and their kids for some pizza. After which we decided to go swimming at the El Pueblo pool. It was a fun swim, & a nice day.

Then, we all came home and I took a nap while the others played video games etc. The next adventure was at the creek. We(my brothers & sister and families) all went to the creek and had tinfoil dinners. It was great food and fun for the kids to play in the water. We had smores too. Yum! It was nice and cool and not too many bugs.

Just my idea of a great day.

Holland Reunion

This year we were able to get together with James' whole immediate family at Lake Powell. When we get together with everyone it has been known as the "Holland Hassel" but this event was very enjoyable. We had some rain but for the most part it was beautiful weather and we enjoyed playing and visiting and camping at the lake. We ended up camping in the Walweap campground which is very nice. We beached across the lake and I think this trip will be known as the trip of many coolers. (Kari i need the photo to prove it) I think we ended up with 7 coolers in all. Can't ever have too much food at the lake and heaven forbid if we ran out. Good food and fun.

Brookie?

Have you tried these little beauties? It is a brownie with chocolate chip cookies mixed in. Probably safe to call them a "Brookie"? They are heaven in a box. I'm sure you could just make them by making brownie batter and cookie dough. However I bought the mix. It was divine. They are my new favorite treat. I served them for a Relief Society social with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Yummy!

13 U baseball 2011

Devin was invited to be on the 13U travel team this year. He loved going with them. This weekend was the last games of the season. They won both games. It was a good end to the season.

Maddies first date

Maddie has known Spencer since she was about 18 months old. He is the son of an old mission companion of James'. When we went to school in Logan we were reacquainted with the Jensen family. Come to find out Maddie and Spencer are only 1 day apart.

Spencer and Maddie have always been pretty good to keep in touch. Spencer text her and asked what she was doing for her birthday. She said not much and asked him the same question. He responded with, "Well hopefully I'm going on a date with a cute girl from Kanab" She played along for a bit and then he formally asked her to go out on her birthday. His family was coming this way for a reunion in Bryce Canyon that weekend. They had alot of fun. They doubled with Maddies friends Ty Gant and McKenna Terry.

Believe it or not... It's true.... My little girl is turning 16 tomorrow!!
She used to be so little and cute. Now she is so much older, taller, and beautiful!(still cute though too). I love the person she has become. She has such a great sense of humor and I love to just chat with her. She is such a good example to me and others. I Love You Maddie! Happy 16th Birthday!! I never thought this day would come.

On Friday we had a surprise party for her at the park. Some friends were out of town, but lots of them came to celebrate with us. It was fun and I really think she had no clue. We ate hot dogs and then had ice cream and the incredible cake.

My cousin's wife Staci made this incredible fondant cake. Maddie loves to watch all the shows on TV about fondant cakes. Cake Boss is her favorite. So I've been wanting to do a cool cake for her for a long time. Staci did a great job and spent many hours on it. These are her favorite colors too. Thanks to her (and Joe B.) for their time and talents.

Last Sunday night as my sister and her husband were getting ready for bed, they could smell something hot. They live in an old home where there is only one outlet in each room. My brother in law took the cover off of one of the outlets only to find the inside of their bedroom wall on fire. He then yelled to my sister to get the kids and get out. Here is the result of their fire. They are unable to live in their cute home for now. However, it will be restored to be a beautiful "new" house with all new updated wiring. This first photo is the wall in my sisters room where the fire started.

This is taken from the top of her stairs looking down. Lots of insulation and water. Not a good mix.

Here is the outside of her bedroom wall that burned the worst on the outside.

In the kids rooms upstairs all of the ceilings had to be pulled down because the fire was in the walls and attic and in order for the firemen to get to it they had to find it. So sad. This is Krysha's room

Taming of the Shrew

For region drama this year Maddie and her friend Kim did an piece from Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew". They did a great job and were able to make it to state. I think their costumes were darling. Way to go girls!

Band Competition

Last week Roxi and I traveled to Cedar to watch our kids play in the Band/Strings competition held there. They both got excellent ratings and did a good job. Nana Von was also able to come with us. She came to the performances and then we enjoyed a yummy lunch with her at Cafe' Rio.

A Day Out

One of the things we love to do in my extended family is get together and EAT! We recently decided that we should become more active as a family and instead of sitting around eating, we should do something "active". A couple of weekends ago it turned out to be very nice weather. We all took to the Squaw Trail. The kids loved it and even Nana made it up and back. It was a great little hike.

Blue Man Group - Las Vegas 2011

I had the chance to go with the KHS music department to Vegas to see the show "Blue Man Group" Maddie is of course in band and Xpress so therefore her and I were able to go. I rode the bus and it was fine. The show was definitely not what I expected. It was great though. It is a show that catches you off guard. It is such random things. Strange - but entertaining for sure. I'm glad I was able to go.

Devin participated in the 2011 Air band competition at the middle school. His group was called the Twisted Pickles. They lip synced to the song 'Amish Paradise' It was pretty good. The boys in his group were Devin, Russell Aldredge, Dane Stewart, & Danion Barnson. They won the competition and were awarded a pizza party.

Rubber Gloves

I know your thinking... "What the???" Bear with me on this one.

So 20+ years ago I graduated from Cosmetology school. Better known as "beauty school". When I started school in Sept of 1989, I was issued a "kit". In the kit were things such as combs, brushes, rollers... you get the idea. One of the items was a box of rubber gloves. Well it was actual box you see pictured below. We used them when doing hair color, for those of you who are wondering.

So last night as Devin was complaining profusely about having to load the dishwasher.(he hates dishes - period, but would rather unload because the dishes are clean and he doesn't like to touch gross food and such.)I told him to find the gloves under the sink and use them. He then proceeded to tell me that the last time he used the yellow dish gloves, he put them on and they were wet inside. He said they were full of...get this... Pee water. To which I responded,laughing, "How did they get pee water in them? Did you pee in them?" (it wasn't pee at all, just water that had been sitting in the bottom of rubber gloves and now stunk.)Now keep in mind he was carrying on about having to do the dumb dishes and I was mad at him for throwing such a fit. But when he said that I completely burst out laughing. He did too, but it was a laugh/cry/fit. It really was quite funny.

Anyway, so I'm sure your are wondering where the hair coloring gloves fit into all of this. So needless to say I found him some nice clean dry rubber gloves to do the dishes with. (my trusty hair coloring gloves) And can you believe that I have gone through the whole box already??? It only took me 22 years!

SIDE NOTE: I also thought the box itself was hilarious. Lovin' the 80's hair do and the shirt/sweater combo along with square earrings to match. I'd love to hear your thoughts. (Kim & Nancy Nina, I know what your thinking)

Forgotten Carols

This year my brother gave my mom Forgotten Carols tickets and invited us along. I love it. We had a nice "girl food" dinner at Olive Garden then went to the play. I think my mom enjoyed it. I know I did. It helps me remember what is important especially during Christmas.

Okay my brother Yates had an ugly christmas shirt contest at a party he went to before coming to the Forgotten Carols. He doesn't really wear shirts like this. Isn't it beautiful??

Saturday we went to Las Vegas and enjoyed an awesome airshow at Nellis AFB. It was really amazing.
This plane was the coolest I thought. It can defy gravity for sure.

Today seemed like a great day to just take the 4 of us and go to the lake. It was a perfect day there. Not too much wind, a lot of sun but not too hot, cool but not too cold water, and 2 cute kids and a great husband to go with. All that adds up to one fun day at the lake. We had a great time and were back in time to can the tomatoes.

Missing our Daddy

James has been gone for about a week and a half on the fires in Colorado. It is a bittersweet thing for us. Hate him to be gone, but love the cash. My kids love their dad so much and miss him terribly when he is gone. Devin asks me daily "When is Dad coming home?" He has a great relationship with his children, for which I am very grateful.

He sent this photo of where he is staying. Wow looks like a real Hilton. I appreciate his sacrifice to go on fires when called. The extra money comes in quite handy. However, I like it so much better when he is home.

My Awesome Find!

So I've been cleaning out some in my house. I did the kids rooms & just recently moved on to the dreaded office. In doing so I have gotten rid of some, shall we say, "junk"? I decided to take my junk to the thrift store here in Kanab. (didn't even take my purse, mind you)

I pulled into the parking lot and in dropping off my items I spotted a chair. This wasn't just your ordinary old chair, this one was quite unique. I told the woman I was dropping off and then inquired if this chair was for sale. She kindly said "Yes", and I quickly asked "How much?" Well I expected her to say $15...$20 or somewhere upwards of that. Nope!! Take a guess..... a mere $3!! "Sweet!" I muttered to myself. I then told the woman that I would be back with my $3 in a few minutes.

I instantly had to tell my sister of my find. (besides the fact that she has a car that could haul it home for me & then give me advice on how to place it strategically in my yard) So needless to say I felt as though I had found the deal of the year right here at our little thrift store. I love my unique little yellow chair. I did toss the cushions. Didn't have use for those germy things. (I'm with you Nancy, EEEWWW!)

Thanks to whomever it was that found it in their heart to give up this little beauty. It made my day...week...year. BTW I was having a crappy day so this was just the ticket.

This picture was in the Salt Lake Tribune this evening. Devin volunteered for several hours today helping fill sandbags and shoveling mud.Twelve-year-old Devin Holland, left, of Kanab, fills a sandbag held by James Anderson, 16, of Kanab. The sandbags will be used in a housing subdivision hit by flash flooding early Saturday.

Crazy flood here in Kanab. It rained over 2 inches in about 45 minutes.

Our Maiden Voyage- Lake Powell

So after much persuasion from his wife, James relented and we bought a boat. I have wanted one ever since I can remember. It is small, but just right for our family. I wanted to be able to build some fun family lake memories. We started off right with a fun first weekend at Lake Powell. Our friends, the Stubbs, also bought a boat. They met us on the beach for some food & fun. It was a fun, but windy day.

Violin Competition

On Monday May 10th the strings group from the elementary traveled to Cedar to participate in the large group competition. This is the first year that the elementary has gone and they were the only elementary school that participated.

They did very well. They received an excellent rating along with a trophy. I was able to ride on the bus along with them. It was a fun day.

Maddie has been taking piano from Suzanne Edwards for the past year. She has really come along way this year. She went to Cedar and earned her trophy. She received the trophy at her piano recital. She played 2 songs and did a very good job.

Accident prone Devin has another OWIE. He was batting at his last baseball game and the pitcher hit his thumb with the ball. It is fractured in 2 places. It really does look sore. What he likes most is that he has to have his pants buttoned up for him. Good times.

James has anxiously been awaiting having LASIK surgery on his eyes. He has been wearing "GAY" glasses (his term of endearment) for about a month now. Not his favorite thing to do. However I think it is all going to we well worth it. The green dots mean that the Dr. is supposed to do both eyes.

Piano Festival

Yesterday we traveled to a very cold Cedar City to listen to Maddie participate in the annual Piano Festival. This is Maddie's 3rd year in the festival as a piano student. She did so great and was able to achieve a SUPERIOR rating. This being her 3rd year allows her to receive her trophy. Good job Maddie! She worked very hard to learn these 2 songs this year. We are very proud of her.

Maddie: I'm typing on a very small keyboard. BTW? Where did you learn that? And why do you care anyway?

Me: I'm not as dumb as you think I am I do have a little knowledge of texting lingo. I care because I am your MOTHER! It's fun watching you grow up.

Maddie:(exact words) I'm sure it's fun to WATCH...it's like watching a fish get eaten by a shark it's so interesting yet sad although there's nothing you can do about it

Anyway, I was laughing my head off at my 14 1/2 year old's humor.

This was our Valentines day date. James and I and Harry and Melissa Barber took a couple of hours on Saturday and went to the sand dunes to go snowshoeing. It was alot of fun. I was nervous that it was going to be hard but it was so fun. It was neat to go in the snow where there are no tracks of any kind but yours. It was such a nice day we didn't even need coats.

Every year our stake does a dinner/dance for Valentines day. They usually have different people dance from different era's or sometimes just different costumes. We have done it a few times. This year we did the Hustle from the 70's. James says this was our last year. It was fun though.

Where did the last 10 years go? I can't believe that they are so big. Time has flown by. I can hardly remember those hard days of wiping noses and butts. I would go back in a minute. All you people who have little ones, enjoy the moment because it goes faster than you think! I'm just trying to enjoy the moment I'm in right now. Every age of kids is great.

New Years Eve

I'm a little late blogging these but oh well. We spend New Years Eve with our cousin Joe B and his wife Staci. Roxi and Brett and Jeri and JD (for a minute) joined in the fun. It has become a tradition that is great. We played games and ate the yummiest food ever. We weren't able to stay to ring in the new year because we left a sick Devin at home. He was good about staying home and tending himself. Maddie was old enough this year to go to the stake dance. OUCH! That hurts a little. She was home at 1:15am

This is what happens when 2 boys, a sleeping bag and a steep flight of stairs get together. Oh but it was a ton of fun while it lasted. Devin was pretty upset when he touched the back of his head and there was lots of blood. He did not want stitches! But as you can see he had no choice. However, it ended up being 10 STAPLES. After he calmed down some Dev was a brave boy. End result: New shirt ruined, and large headache. Poor kid.

I think Kyeron and Devin need to stick to snow sledding, It might be safer.

Yes, it's time for a change on the ole blog. That Halloween post has been up for almost a month and I'm sick of it. I had to steal some pictures of Thanksgiving from my sis-in-law. Thanks Kari. Anyway, we had a real nice turkey day at the Holland home. Good food, good family, and lots of pets!!

We just recently returned from our family vacation at Disneyland. It truly is the happiest place on earth -for kids that is. Actually I counted more adults there than children. We spent 3 1/2 days there and 1 day at Magic Mountain. Dev needed some thrill rides. We had a great time and spent way too much money. It is nice to be home though. California sure is a rat race compared to here. We are so thankful to live in such a slow paced beautiful area.

Fall is in the air and it feels so good. Guess where we are headed on Friday? Yep, you guessed it... the most magical place on earth. DISNEYLAND! We decided that we wanted to see the park all decorated for Halloween. We are all looking forward to it and will give the full report when we return. But for now... It's canning season again. I didn't think we would get much this year but it has turned out to be quite "fruitful". Roxi and I canned the best sweet and sour sauce. It is to die for and quite simple to make. James and friends canned some sweet relish. We had lots of cucumbers. James and I did some grape jam for the first time. Roxi, James and I canned yummy salsa for the first time too. Then last but not least, I did some blackberry freezer jam. I love the sight of fresh canning.

Before school started, Nana Holland promised Maddie and Devin she would take them both on a trip. (by themselves w/o the other)

Maddies trip was to Salt Lake City to help her aunt Kari move. Maddie loves Salt Lake. She enjoyed her stay & was very spoiled by Nana. (school clothes, trinkets, etc.) Aunt Kari showed her a great time as always. (Sorry no picture)

Devin's trip was to Las Vegas to check out aunt Kari's new digs. Aunt Kari and Uncle Dennis know how to have fun. Devin "woke up in Vegas" for the first time. And as you can see he met the KING! He also got to stop at the Valley of Fire for some sweet fireworks.

Last week we were able to see some really great cars. The Utah Fast Pass Car show came through town. They gave out free t-shirts and hats and let us sit in their cars and feel cool. Devin didn't want to leave. Here he and Maddie are standing by an awesome Ferrari. It was fun.

Roxi, Yates, and I took our kids to Zion Poderosa to their very cool pool swimming. The kids had a great time and so did the parents. It was a little windy but overall a very nice day. We were all worn out when we got home.

Last weekend we went camping up on Boulder Mountain. It was so pretty. We camped in a neat grassy spot with a stream running through it. Devin & James went fishing at McGath lake. They caught some beautiful pink brook trout. Here is Devin with some of the fish. We went with the Rooks' family, our neighbors and friends next door. We had a great time.

20 Year Class Reunion 2009 - Class of 1989

This year James and I had our 20 year class reunion. We met at the park for a family lunch on Friday at noon. We reacquainted with quite a few classmates there. Then later that evening we went to the Kanab Elementary school for a good old fashioned meal. We ate on lunchroom trays, went through the old lunch line and even had some authentic lunch ladies serving us. However the meal was not "lunch room" food. Kammy (Glover)Houston fixed us up with some great chicken fried chicken with all the trimmings. After our yummy meal we played games, passed out prizes and watched a slide show from the past and present. It was a fun event.

Devin was born July 4th 1998. He turned 11 this year. He had a sleepover with some of his friends on the night of the 3rd. They woke up to some loud 4th of July booms, ate some yummy pancakes, and watched a movie. I think they had fun.

This year Devin is able to advance to 11 year old scouting. He got a new scout uniform for his birthday. What a handsome fellow. Happy Birthday Devin!

Last weekend while attending Devin's baseball tourney in Richfield, we decided to take the kids to the Manti pageant. It was raining when we got there so Ben Clarkson (they went with us) asked the gate guard if the pageant was ever canceled because of rain. He said that a general authority was in Manti that day and he told them that it may rain before and after the performance but not during. Sure enough it rained before and after, but there was a blue sky during the performance. It was a great show. (Chilly but good)

Girls Camp - 2009

After 2 1/2 years serving as Young Women's President in my ward, I was released last Sunday. It ended on such a great note. Girls Camp was a blast. We spent 3 days at Panguitch Lake at Houston's cabin. What a great bunch of girls. I have also worked with some awesome women.

Havasupai 2009

On June 5th James and I and 3 other couples headed out for Havasaupi. It was a trip to remember. It is about 12 miles in and 12 miles out. The kicker is that the first 1 1/2 miles are straight down the canyon rim, therefore straight up the canyon rim on your way out. (after hiking the 10 miles to get to that point) We all carried backpacks in and most of us carried out. (an injury and a HUGE backpack came out by mule, $20 well spent)

Devin is on the Kanab 10U team. We have been traveling some with the team. We had a tournament here in Kanab on June 5th & 6th. Last weekend we traveled to Richfield for a tournament. Hiking, Camping, Backpacking!!!

We are trying to get ready to go to Havasupai on June 5th. We have taken the last 2 weekends and tried to get a feel for backpacking. (at least me, James is a pro). Well Here is the first weekend.

> We headed out to a place that we never got to. When we dropped into the wash it was like dry quick sand. The Rover had never seen sand like this and neither had we. It was crazy. It took us about 15 tries to dig ourselves out of this mess. Thanks to James and Terry. Kim and I were great spectators.

After getting unstuck we found a great spot to just kick back and relax. We set up camp by some rocks, mind you. It was a beautiful evening topped off with a full moon.

This past weekend we took the kids and James' sister Kari and her friend Elaine up the Escalante River. It was a beautiful 3 1/2 mile hike up. We camped under the stars. It was great except for the darn mosquitoes. They love us. We were prepared somewhat for them. We took nets for our heads and bug repellent. They still got Maddie and Devin pretty good. I think we are almost ready for Havasupai.

Chicken Pox!

Yes, it's true Chicken Pox at our house. We thought we would escape it, but not to be. It is going around. Krysha, our niece/cousin had them 2 weeks ago. Then Jaybin broke out on Thursday with them. Dr. Ott said he hadn't seen a case in 6 years. Crazy.

Both of my kids have been immunized. Maddie hasn't shown any sign yet. However, as we found out you can still get them even after having the shot. This is poor Devin. He has them the worst on his lower back and bum. His famous quote is: "If these pox are chickens, then I've got a whole farm on my BUTT!"

I've been slacking lately on the whole blog thing. Not because I don't want to do it, life is just hectic. It seems like all I do is work lately.

Here are some updates. This past weekend we had some friends come to visit. Dee is James old friend from when he lived in Salt Lake. They went from Kindergarten to 5th grade together and walked to school daily together. They lived close to each other and were great friends then and still are now. He and his wife Angie and their 2 boys, Josh and Garrett came to spend the weekend. The best part is that they took our noisy, obnoxious bird with them. Yeah! We had a great time.

Canyon Rim Trail in Zion -

For the last 2 Monday holidays (presidents day & teacher data day - whatever that is) we have gone on a hike. On Presidents day we went to Zion and hiked up the narrows trail. (pictures on James camera - sorry). For our next hike we chose the Squaw Trail. We had a lot of fun. We are trying to get ready for our big hike in June. HAVASUPAI here we come!

90 and still with it!!

This past week was James' Grandma Ardeth's 90th birtday. She turned 90 on Wednesday Febuary 25th. We had a little party for her on Saturday at the Shilo where friends and family gathered to see her. Kariann & Kathleen made some great food as you can see.

We have always been very close to grandma. She will call usually a few times a week just to make sure that we are all okay and check in with us. She is a very loving grandma and loves her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. My kids had the opportunity to live in her basement for a large portion of their lives. Therefore they have always been very spoiled by grandma Ardeth.

Ardeth is not only concerned with her family but with her friends (and that is half the community). She always wants to know what is going on and takes it upon herself to make sure she does. She is always willing to do whatever she can to help someone in need, even if it is just calling to check on them.

We all love grandma very much and hope that she lives another 90 years!

Little Miracles

Normally I only post about once a week. But this just had to be posted.

I arrived home last night around 8:30 after a long 10 hour day at Walgreens. It was so refreshing to have the dishes done (thanks honey) and Maddie was hard at it on the computer finishing her homework. Normally Devin is playing Xbox which is fine. Last night however, he came up to me, hugged me and said "Mom there is something I have to show you!" So I slowly make my way up the stairs to his room. Low and behold, this photo is what I saw. I wish I would've taken the before photo. I guess he bargined with his dad that if he didn't have to help with the dishes, he would clean his room. Good bargin for everyone. Thanks Devin, it looks great! (He even got up this morning and made his bed.

Note: I mussent forget to tell Maddie thanks too. Her room is nearly always clean and I don't even have to ask her.

Warm in Phoenix

Maddie and I took a fun trip this weekend with MacKenna and Tiffany Clarkson. Tiffany had a gift show in Phoenix so she took us along for the ride. While Tiff went to her show, the girls and I hung out shopping, swimming and eating. We had fun. The weather was so nice. 74 degrees! MacKenna and Maddie had fun swimming and as you can see they have twinner suits. It was a fun weekend. Thanks to Tiff for inviting us along. We had some great fun and some great eats! Back to the diet on Monday!

Early Anniversary

James and I decided that we would actually do something for our anniversary this year. We will be married 16 years on January 16th. Holy cow! Last summer he stayed in Vegas on his way home from a fire. He stayed at the South Point Hotel (very nice I might add). They gave him a coupon for 2 nights free during the holiday. We decided to take advantage. His buddy that was with him gave him his coupon so we decided to invite along some friends that we haven't seen for a while from Morgan, UT. We went to the show La Reve. It is really an amazing show. Ate a lot of food and mostly just relaxed. No gambling. (well James did loose $6 at the penny slots) Here we are just getting ready to enjoy the show.

I've been wanting to blog our traditional Angel Tree. This is a tree that we put up every year in honor of Mia. This will be our 5th Christmas without her & the 5th year we have decorated our Angel Tree. This year Maddie wanted to do it. She did it by herself & did a very great job. The ornaments are some we have collected and some people have given us in memory of her. The 3 little colored angels on the bottom right of the tree are the 3 kids birthstone angels. We want to wish everyone a very happy and healthy Merry Christmas.

Maddie is such a beautiful little/big girl. She is growing up so darn fast too. I can't believe she is 13 1/2 already. These are some of my favorite Maddie pictures. She has the greatest sense of humor and will try anything once. She is so sensitive to the feelings of others. I appreciate Maddie and all that she does for our family. My brother has always had a nickname of "Barbie skinny butt" for Maddie. She has always resented the fact that she doesn't have a middle name. Sorry Mad. She likes to be called Maddie but her name is Madison. Devin just calls her "sis"(or a few other choice words). We love you Maddie!

Have I mentioned that my children are very photogenic? I wanted to spotlight Devin this week. He does love critters I might add. (as you can see) In the first picture that is a grasshopper he is about to eat. Yuck! Here are a few of my very favorite pictures of Devin. What a cute little boy.
